Privacy Policy

The short version: PocketNFC doesn't have accounts, doesn't run analytics or advertising SDKs, and doesn't send your tag data anywhere. Everything you scan, write, or capture stays on your iPhone.

What PocketNFC collects

Nothing is collected by us. PocketNFC does not require you to create an account, does not use third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs, and does not transmit tag contents, scan history, keys, or device identifiers to any server we operate.

Data stored on your device

To do its job, PocketNFC stores the following locally on your iPhone, using Apple's standard on-device storage:

  • Scan history — tag UIDs, NDEF contents, and read/write results you've captured
  • Key libraries and card key profiles used for MIFARE Classic testing
  • Saved reader/Chameleon Ultra device passwords and slot configurations, where you choose to store them

None of this leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it yourself (for example, exporting a dump file). It is not backed up to any service we control.

Hardware connections

PocketNFC uses Bluetooth to communicate directly with an ACR1555U/ACR1255U reader or a Chameleon Ultra device when you choose to pair one. This is a direct, local connection between your iPhone and the hardware — it does not route through our servers, because we don't have any.

PocketNFC uses your iPhone's built-in NFC (CoreNFC) to read and write tags. Apple's usual NFC permission prompt applies, and NFC access is only active while the app is scanning.

Network requests

The only network requests PocketNFC makes are ones you trigger yourself — for example, the optional "live URL check" tool in NDEF QA, which sends a request to a URL you've typed in, to confirm it's reachable before you write it to a tag. That request goes straight from your device to the destination you specified; it does not pass through us, and we don't log it.

Children's privacy

PocketNFC does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a future version adds an optional cloud sync feature — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change.
